2 years, 12 schools. 1 mission.
Over six weeks, Left2Write provides an extracurricular creative writing curriculum that includes memoir, prose, and poetry.
To provide creative writing programming, that supports and broadens student access to writing opportunity, literacy, and scholarship, to underfunded schools and the community.
Left2Write is currently attaining its 501 (c) (3) as a Nonprofit Corporation. Teaching Artists partner with schools to deliver extracurricular creative writing residencies where students have six-weeks and thirteen-sessions to explore writers, themes, forms, and themselves.
All school programs are included in four annual events and schools are welcome to request a professional development workshop also run by our team.
Our work together culminates in a release party and reading of a newly bound anthology, which is submitted to PRESLM/NCTE and the American Scholastic Press Association for excellence in student literary magazines.
Student work is also submitted for publication and scholarship with Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards and Poetry Matters.
