Your brain is developing rapidly, your bones and joints are mineralizing (and your skeleton is officially complete), you're practicing your sucking-reflex so that you'll be ready for milk and you're over 2 pounds this week. It's crazy!
This week, we took our glucose test: 28 jelly beans in 3 minutes (though not a Guinness Book of World Records). And passed with flying colors! 104 means that we've got nothing to worry about! Unfortunately, the jelly beans were disgusting and, once we got home, I started throwing up (and kept throwing up for the next few days). Not so fun! But it's all worth it for you. It's also March, now! We're edging closer to the third trimester and you kicked so hard, this week, that it made your daddy laugh. I'm pretty sure we're only one M-month away from meeting you, now. And every day we get more excited! Furniture for your nursery is starting to come in and I have a feeling it will be my favorite room in the house (even more than the parlor)!

This week, we mark a pretty exciting milestone: On Monday 2/26, we will have LESS THAN 100 DAYS TO GO! Double-digits, baby! These countdowns really make it feel as though you'll be here before we know it!
Your lungs are still developing, you will continue to do adorable womb things like hiccup and tap dance. At 25 weeks, you are the size of a head of cauliflower (also, I read, a Barbie doll)! We will eat roasted cauliflower in celebration! This week, you're continuing to get cuter and chubbier, your skin is getting more opaque (and less wrinkly) and you learned a new trick! You can stick out your tongue, cutie. I applied for maternity leave this week and am actively planning our time together. I can't wait for our days of cuddling and joy. The Pinterest Boards are chockful of activities and the playlist in soft and loving. I've started reading through the labor and delivery booklet we were sent, after our first childbirth class--and it makes everything feel even more real! So much to think about and I feel grateful for every decision we get to make and every opportunity to bring you here healthy. I mean--born! But, this week, you're the size of an ear of corn! And also a cantaloupe? But I'm not asking questions. As long as you're healthy and on your way!
You've been brewing in my belly for six months! It's so crazy to believe; it feels like you've always been here and like we've always been waiting for you. I wake up grateful, every day. This week, you're kicking up a storm as your spine strengthens (you have 1,000 ligaments, 150 joints, and 33 vertebrae in there), your blood vessels are developing inside your lungs, to ensure you breathe beautifully, earthside and your hair and skin are beginning to pigment. You're nearly two pounds of pure love and Mama's started nesting this week: We ordered a bigger couch for the living room, for more couch cuddles and for all the people who are going to come meet you to sit, and feng shui'ed the downstairs office into an office/parlor hybrid. We can't wait to read you stories in here and to look up at the glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling! Your month 6 appointment was this week and you were playing hide-and-seek behind the placenta--but I wasn't worried. You're a jokester. This week was a little scary for me, as I started to think about how much about pregnancy is absolutely unknown. Me, the control freak I am, really likes to feel like I can plan for things--I mean, we planned so hard for you. But, even that, was fully out of my control. I've decided this is a great lesson for motherhood--and I just need to get onboard! We did our second half of the birthing class on Zoom and received a certificate in the mail! I put it into your baby book, like your Bubbe put into mine! We will chronical the story of you, so that you never forget, even for a moment, how cherished you are. This week was also Valentines Day! The last one before you're earthside was spent cooking dinner together and holding hands on a long walk. Your daddy and I exchanged cards and cuddled a little extra long in the morning (a perfect day, to me)! Happy Valentines Day, baby. Happy 6 months. Happy, happy, almost here. This was a special week, baby.
We had another check-up with AFA, took our first birthing class on Zoom (3 hours...for part one! It was a doozy) and your first photoshoot, with Auntie Boo (and Bubby assistant)! This weekend, Bubby bought you a book that we picked out together. I started to read it aloud and immediately burst into tears! It was called You Are New. And, gosh, I can't wait to meet you. Your dad and I keep feeling your sweet little kicks--mostly when we're singing you songs on the piano, we're drinking juice, or we're doing our evening bedtime routine. We can't wait for you to join us in our kitchen dances and all the love that's already here for you, earthside. This week, your hair started to grow--it's white now but soon it will be the color you're born with. Do you think you'll have brown hair like mommy or black hair like daddy? Your lungs are hard at work and you're definitely responding to our silly sounds! It feels more and more like you're here, every day. And that's the greatest gift of all! We started ordering cute things for your nursery and even picked your pediatrician this week--and we think you're going to like him! |
